Kendo is available for beginners once the have reached a high level of expertise with empty hand. Kendo is available as a 14 week course at Eastern University. There is a club in Norristown and at St. Davids. The sport of kendo includes kata with the bokken and katana. Competition is held each spring and fall at the annual Norristown martial arts tournament
